EARLY MORNING SHOWERS MOVE OUT GIVING WAY TO SUNSHINE WITH HOT AND
HUMID CONDITIONS….

We started the day with a lot of cloud cover and a few light rain
showers which amounted to only 0.03″ of water in the rain gauge.
Once the system moved out, the clouds quickly cleared allow for
plenty of sunshine to take over. This of course set the stage for
a rapid rise in temperatures as a hot and humid air mass takes over
the region.

Temperatures quickly warmed through the 80s late this morning and
early this afternoon with values reaching near 90 by the 1pm
observation. The dew point has been steadily on the rise as well
from the mid 60s early this morning to 70F by early this afternoon.
This combination is creating heat index values into the mid 90s.
An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for the area from now until
8pm Tuesday.

Winds haven’t been overly strong today, but have been on the
increase as we push into the early afternoon hours. A southwest
wind this morning has veered to the west-southwest and west and is
averaging around 13mph. The peak gust so far for the day is 32mph,
which occurred just before 12pm.

The visibility is somewhat limited by haze, but has improved from
the values of early this morning when we could only see about 20
miles. The view is around 35-40 miles early this afternoon.

The maximum temperature for today is 90F degrees, which is 12
degrees above the normal high of 78F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 68F degrees, which is 8 degrees above the normal low
of 60F.
