LIGHT RAIN OVERNIGHT, MAINLY CLOUDY AND COOL TODAY….

Several hours of steady light rain occurred overnight into
early this morning. While it wasn’t a ton of water in terms
of what was measured (0.31″), it was a slow soaking rain
that was very welcomed, and will hopefully help with drought
relief.

Rain moved out just after the 7am observation, but clouds
have been the theme all day. Most of the clouds late this
morning and afternoon are a result of very cold air aloft
creating ideal conditions for lifting of air (convection).
As such cumulus clouds form the moment any sun attempts to
heat the ground. The cumulus are then spreading out into
altocumulus creating overcast conditions.

With the cold pool aloft and cloud cover, temperatures are
not warming much today. The high so far has only been 60F
with most of the day holding in the 50s after being in the
upper 40s early this morning.

The wind hasn’t been as busy as yesterday, but does get
a little gusty at times. The peak gust so far has been
28mph. The average speed for the day is around 11mph.

Visibility has been excellent after the rain moved out
ranging between 70-80 miles despite the overcast skies!

The high so far today is 60F, which is 17 degrees below
the normal maximum of 77F. The low since midnight is 48F,
which is 11 degrees below the normal minimum of 59F.
