MORE CLOUDS THAN SUN WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS MOVING THROUGH
AGAIN TODAY…
A period of heavy rain moved through the area last evening
leaving 1.88″ of much needed rain in the gauge here at Blue
Hill. The heaviest of the rain fell between 2pm and 5pm,
during which time we picked up 1.29″ of rain!
The rain tapered off after midnight, but clouds remained
over the area right into this afternoon. There are some breaks
in the clouds developing early this afternoon, but sunshine
has still been quite limited so far today. Scattered showers have
continued to move from north to south across the area however,
and we’ve picked up another 0.03″ since 7am this morning.
Temperatures are once again being held down by the cloud cover
and cold pool of air aloft. Readings have only reached the
mid to upper 60s early this afternoon, which is around 10
degrees below the expected high for the date.
The wind has been light once again with only an average speed
of about 8mph. The highest gust so far today occurred just
after 5:30 this morning and was only around 20mph.
Visibility has been decent most of the day in between rain
showers. The view has improved from 50 miles early this morning
to 65 miles by early this afternoon.
The high temperature so far today is 67F, which is 9 degrees
below the normal maximum of 76F. The low since midnight is 56F,
this is 3 degrees below the normal minimum of 59F.
