BREEZY AND OVERALL COOL CONDITIONS TO START METEOROLOGICAL
SUMMER….
The last day of May proved to be a wet one as we got 0.27 inches
total for the day. This brings our monthly total to 7.62 inches,
making it the 8th wettest May on record. Below are the years with
the highest May precipitation, as compiled by our chief scientist,
Mike Iacono.
BHO Highest May Precipitation, inches (1885-2025):
1) 10.10 in 2006
2) 9.16 in 1954
3) 9.14 in 1984
4) 8.65 in 2005
5) 8.18 in 1998
6) 7.91 in 1967
7) 7.81 in 1990
8) 7.62 in 2025
9) 7.55 in 1920
10) 6.80 in 2002
Temperatures have remained below normal as the weak disturbance
moved offshore this morning. Increasing clouds and gusty winds
have suppressed the temperatures, but the dry, cooler air has
helped with the humidity and dew point, making for a comfortable
start to June.
We have had a predominantly westerly flow this morning and it has
been quite breezy for much of the day. Winds have averaged about
16mph, with frequent gusts in the 20-25 mph range. Our peak gust
of 40mph occurred just before 8am this morning.
Visibility has been between 40-50 miles for much of the day, with
a slight improvement in the early afternoon hours.
The maximum temperature for today is 61F degrees, which is 10 degrees
below the normal high of 71F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 47F degrees, which is 6 degrees above the normal low of 53F.
