HEAVY RAIN LAST EVENING LEADS TO A REFRESHING AIR MASS TODAY…
Thunderstorms last evening brought yet another heavy rainfall
event here to the hill with 1.04″ of rain being recorded. 1″
of this all fell in a 2 hour period between 7pm-9pm. This
marked the 5th event of 1″ or more this month, and the 4th
to do so within a 24 hour period. The monthly total is now
9.58″ and is now ranked the 5th wettest for the month of July.
See the rankings list below.
Today is a whole different world as we’ve seen a mix of sun
and clouds with temperatures only reaching the low 70s through
1pm. The dew point, which is the more important metric this
time of year, is in the very refreshing and pleasant mid 50s
range. After almost a month of high dew points, it really
does feel wonderful outside. Perfect hiking weather!
The wind has been generally on the light side out of mainly a
northerly direction. The average speed for the day so far has
been around 9mph.
Visibility has been excellent today, improving from 50 miles
early this morning to 70 miles this afternoon, indicative of
the much drier air mass in place.
The maximum temperature so far today is 75F, this is 7 degrees
below the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature today is
56F, which is 8 degrees below the normal low of 64F.
As mentioned above, the monthly rainfall total of 9.58″ is
now ranked 5th most for the month of July. Here is the list
of rankings per our Chief Scientist Mike Iacono.
