OVERCAST SKIES WITH OFF AND ON SHOWERS AND INCREASING HUMIDITY…
The morning started with dense fog once again, which limited the
visibility to around 1/8 to 1/4 of a mile for a while. The fog
burned off by mid morning, but the visibility only improved to
around 8-10 miles, until what appears to be a warm front passed
through just right around the 1pm observation. Once this front
came through, the visibility improved further to around 30 miles
for a time, before more showers moved into the area.
The temperature mainly held in the 60s this morning, then pushed
into the low to mid 70s following the warm frontal passage,
despite having no sunshine. The dew point also jumped from the
mid 60s to low 70s following the front, so it has become quite
humid out there.
The wind was light all morning, but has picked up this afternoon
following the wind shift from southeast to south/south-southwest.
The average speed for the day is only around 8mph, but has jumped
to around 19mph in the last hour. As a matter of fact, a heavy
rain shower moved through just after 2pm bringing wind gusts to
35mph with it!
As mentioned above, the visibility was limited due to dense fog
early this morning, then haziness thereafter. The view was
generally under 1/2 mile early, improving to around 30 miles by
early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 74F, this is 6 degrees
below the normal high of 80F. The minimum since midnight is 63F,
which is 1 degree above the normal low of 62F.
