OVERCAST SKIES EARLY THIS MORNING GAVE WAY TO INCREASING SUNSHINE…

Skies started the day with lots of clouds around, but as the morning
progressed, clouds gradually broke giving way to increasing amounts of
sunshine as we pushed toward the noon hour.

Temperatures are warming up today, getting above the freezing mark for
the first time in a week (last Sunday)! Readings have reached the upper
30s by early this afternoon, which would feel nicer if we didn’t have
the gusty winds.

Winds have become quite gusty today following the passage of a weak
frontal system. A south-southwest wind early this morning has veered
around to the west-northwest by late morning, marking the passage of
the front. Speeds immediately began to increase, especially as we started
to get more sunshine (heating). The average speed for the day so far is
around 15mph. Gusts have been reaching the 40mph mark, with a peak gust
so far of 43mph occurring at 11:56am.

Visibility remains constrained by haziness, with views increasing from
around 20 miles early this morning to around 40 miles by early this
afternoon.

The maximum temperature for today is 39F degrees, which is 5 degrees
above the normal high of 34F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 21F degrees, which is 4 degrees above the normal low of 17F.
