OVERNIGHT RAIN AND LINGERING FOG THIS MORNING IMPROVES WITH
AFTERNOON CLEARING AND SUNSHINE….

We received 0.42″ of rain from last night’s system, starting with
sleet and transitioning into rain and drizzle through the early
morning. After the precipitation moved out, we were left in the
clouds for much of the day, as foggy conditions dominated our
view until the early afternoon hours. Finally, sunshine made an
appearance, though the day has felt very raw and chilly overall.

Temperatures have been more seasonal today, although the overnight
low was significantly warmer than normal. Temperatures have been
steady in the mid to upper 30’s since the overnight. With the
lingering fog and high dew points, temperatures have not fluctuated
much at all. With the sun finally making an appearance during the
final observation it may be possible that we warm a little more,
though with cold air advection coming through it’s not a guarantee.

The wind has been primarily steady and out of the northwest for
most of the day, with the exception of this past hour which has
seen a slight shift westerly and a dramatic reduction in speed.
The average speed for the day so far is around 10mph. The peak
gust for the day so far is 30mph, which occurred just after midnight.

Visibility was limited to less than a mile for much of the morning
due to foggy conditions, but dramatically improved during the early
afternoon with about 70 miles of viewing pleasure!

The maximum temperature so far today is 39F degrees, which is
4 degrees above the normal high of 35F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 35F degrees, which is 16 degrees above the
normal low of 19F.
