DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
SUNDAY, JANUARY 11, 2015
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

SATURDAY MARKS FIFTH DAY OF UNSEASONABLE COLD,
LOW OF 9F OVERNIGHT

High pressure slides offshore to our south today,
as clouds begin to filter in. An overnight low of 9F was recorded
just before 5:00 AM EST this morning, marking the third time
this season lows have reached the single digits or colder. For
a fifth day in a row, daily temperatures have remained below
the norm, now taking the monthly temperature departure to 3.6
degrees below the norm so far this January.

By the 1:00 PM EST observation, mid-level cloud cover had been
building throughout the day.  Winds have decreased to around 7 knots
as temperatures have climbed into the mid 20s with a high of 26 at
the observatory. Barometric pressure is beginning to fall as high
pressure moves off the coast and low pressure arrives to bring rain
and snow on Monday.
