SNOW AND FREEZING RAIN REACHES BLUE HILL TODAY ….

The snow started late last night and for the most part has
finished, with some few stray snow showers in the area. The total
snow we have received from this event so far is 4.1 inches. This
puts us slightly up for the month but we are still -12.1 inches
for the season. The majority of the precipitation received was snow
with a period of freezing drizzle occurring during the early morning
hours. We had a brief dry period following more light snow.

Temperatures have stayed below normal values and with very little
variation, thanks to overcast conditions and the passing storm.

The winds shifted from an easterly flow to a more northerly flow
during the early morning. Winds have been holding steady with an
average around 10mph with some gusts reported during the mid
morning. The peak gust occurred just before 9:00am, with a speed
of about 24mph.

Visibility was impacted by the passing snow this morning, with only
2-3 miles visible in the morning. By the afternoon, we improved to
about 40 miles, with some sector visibility from virga in the area.

The maximum temperature for today is 27F degrees, which is 9 degrees
below the normal high of 36F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 23F degrees, which is 5 degrees above the normal low of 18F.
