HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO BLUE HILL YESTERDAY.. 140 YEARS (AND
COUNTING!) OF CONTINUOUS CLIMATE DATA…

Although we had mostly clear skies to start off the day, it was
downright frigid at daybreak with a temperature of 5F and a windchill
around -10F. Fortunately, we had some recovery back into the
“double digits”, though we were still well below normal for this time
of year.

As mentioned, temperatures have stayed well below seasonable today,
mostly due to dry arctic air. Dew point values started off in the
negatives and just reached double digits by noontime today.

Winds continued to blow from the NNW and N for much of the morning
averaging around 10mph. During the late morning, we had calm wind
conditions and a wind shift to the E and ESE directions and with that
came lighter winds, averaging around 5mph. The average speed for the
day so far is around 8mph with the peak gust occurring just after
midnight at 23mph.

Despite the dry air, visibility has been rather subpar. We have remained
in the 40 mile range due to hazy conditions.

The maximum temperature for today is 22F degrees, which is 13 degrees
below the normal high of 35F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 5F degrees, which is 13 degrees below the normal low of 18F.
