A COATING OF SNOW IN THE OVERNIGHT HOURS FOLLOWED BY WARMING
AND SUNSHINE TODAY….
There was an Alberta Clipper system that passed over our region
last night and into the early morning hours, bringing Blue Hill
a trace of snow that netted us 0.02 liquid equivalence.
This morning we were still under overcast skies which eventually
cleared up by the early afternoon. The sunshine and more moist
air has brought some warming, which has been welcome after the
past few frigid days.
We started the day with a temperature of 37F which was the maximum
temperature yesterday. With the sun came some gradual warming and
as of the final 1pm observation we were up to 47F. Temperatures have
went from well below normal to slightly above normal in the past
24 hours. Even with the dry air and breezy conditions, it feels so
much more comfortable out there today.
Westerly flow was dominant yesterday and not much has changed in
that regard, other than a slight shift to the SSW and WSW for much
of the day. Winds have been a bit more active today, averaging around
16 mph with some gusts in the low 20’s. Our peak gust for the day
so far occurred overnight at 3:54am with a speed of 37 mph.
We have struggled with visibility, even with the early afternoon
clearing. Visibility has ranged between 30-40 miles today.
The maximum temperature for today is 47F degrees, which is 5 degrees
above the normal high of 42F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 28F degrees, which is 1 degree above the normal low of 27F.
