DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
SUNDAY, AUGUST 17, 2014
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

MOSTLY CLOUDY TODAY WITH A FEW SHOWERS EARLY THIS MORNING
A FEW MORE SHOWERS POPPING UP THIS AFTERNOON

A few light rain showers before sunrise today brought just 0.01 inches of
rain to the summit.  These showers had pushed away by our 7:00 AM observation,
but mid-level clouds lingered, and we have had mostly cloudy skies for much
of the day.  In addition, with a cold front nearby and temperatures rising
into the upper 70s by early afternoon, a few more showers have popped up,
with most of them being to our south.  Just a light trace of rain has been
recorded here so far this afternoon.  The wind has been steady today at about
10-15mph, mostly from the W-SW.  Visibility has been in the range of 40 to 50
miles throughout the day with distant haze.
