A CLEAR AND BEAUTIFUL MORNING WITH AFTERNOON CLOUDY SKIES….
Today started off with a mostly clear, crisp sky and bright sunshine
with few clouds. By midmorning the wind had picked up from the WSW
and with it brought thick cloud cover which cooled the temperatures
with very light precipitation by the early afternoon.
Temperatures started in the mid 40’s with dew points in the mid to low
30’s. We warmed to the upper 50’s before the cold front came through,
bringing wind and clouds, and dropping us back to the mid 50’s by the
final observation.
The wind has not been as active as the previous couple of days, however
it’s been relatively steady today with an average around 14 mph. Winds
shifted from the WNW to the WSW early this morning and we had frequent
gusts over 20 mph in the early afternoon. Our peak gust so far is about
33 mph which occurred just before noon.
Visibility gradually worsened as the day went on, mostly due to the
impending rain and low clouds moving into the area. We started with
about 70 miles and finished the observation period with around 30 miles.
The maximum temperature so far today is 58F degrees, which is 2 degrees
above the normal high of 56F. The minimum temperature since midnight is
42F degrees, which is 5 degrees above the normal low of 37F.
