ANOTHER CHILLY DREARY DAY HERE AT BLUE HILL….
It’s the weekend, so we all know what that means, poor weather
conditions! We are observing yet another cloudy, cold, and raw
day with periods of drizzle and temperatures that have just
reached the 40F degree mark for the first time since Friday
afternoon! Rain and drizzle yesterday afternoon through the
overnight yielded 0.24″ of water in the gauge through 7am this
morning. An additional 0.01″ has fallen since then. Conditions
have been gradually improving since the late morning hours with
the fog lifting allowing for rather decent visibility considering
the lingering light rain early this afternoon.
As mentioned, temperatures have been on the chilly side only
gradually rising to around 40F by the 1pm observation. Readings
are a solid 15 degrees below normal levels for mid April, with
little overall range between the max and min temperatures over
the past couple of days.
Winds have been gradually decreasing throughout the day today.
A northerly wind has been averaging at around 14mph for the day
so far. The peak gust for the day occurred back in the wee hours
of the day, just before 12:30am with a value of 38mph.
Visibility was poor through most of the morning, generally under
2 miles. But the view has improved markedly off the west and
northwest early this afternoon, upwards to around 60 miles!
The maximum temperature for today is 40F degrees, which is 15
degrees below the normal high of 55F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 35F degrees, which is 2 degrees below the
normal low of 37F.
