INCREASING CLOUDS ON BLUE HILL TODAY WITH A LIGHT BREEZE AND
SEASONAL TEMPERATURES…

This morning started off cool and crisp with a beautiful sun rise
and a mix of clouds throughout the sky. As the day progressed
there was an increase of altostratus and cirrostratus layers
obscuring the sun for most of the early afternoon. It’s still
been a comfortable day for most outdoor activities, even without
the sunshine.

Temperatures have been very similar to yesterday, with us again
just eclipsing 60F before dropping with the increasing cloud cover
this afternoon. With lower wind speeds it hasn’t felt as chilly
and the dew points remain in a comfortable range for us.

The wind was steady from the northwest this morning and once it
shifted from the west it decreased quite a bit. The average speed
so far for the day is about 10mph. Our peak gust currently is at
about 23mph which occurred in the early morning hours.

Visibility has been between 50-60 miles throughout the day.
Despite the increasing cloudiness and slight increase in dew point
we have been able to still take in the sights on the observatory’s
roof top.

The maximum temperature so far today has been 60F, which is 2
degrees below the normal high of 62F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 44F, which is 1 degree below the normal low
of 45F.
