DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2015
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 71F EQUALED ON FRIDAY…
HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE SURPASSED FRIDAY’S RECORD AND
TIES MONTHLY RECORD…PARTIAL CLOUDINESS THIS MORNING
TURNS TO OVERCAST THIS AFTERNOON AS COOLER AND DRIER
AIR RETURNS…

The high temperature on Friday of 71F tied the record high
maximum for the date previously set in 1959.  The low
temperature of 60F set a new record high minimum for the
date, surpassing 58F set in 1938.  This also ties the
high minimum temperature record of 60F for the month set on
November 8th in 1996. The mean temperature of 66F on Friday
made this the warmest November day (in terms of the mean)
since Nov 4, 1990, and this was the first cooling degree day
in November since that date. This was only the eighth November
day in over 130 years that had a mean temperature of 66F or
higher (and a CDD of 1 or more).

Cooler air is gradually returning to New England today, though
the temperature has remained in the 50s all day with a gusty
west wind.  The high temperature for today will likely be
64F back at midnight. The dew point has dropped from about
50F just after midnight to the low 30s by mid-afternoon.
As a result the visiblity has improved from near 70 miles
earlier today to better than 80 miles during the afternoon.

BHO November Cooling Degree Days (1885-2015):

1 on Nov 4, 1987   (77/55/66)
