MUCH COOLER WITH INCREASING CLOUDINESS….
We began the morning with mostly sunny skies, with just some scattered
mid-level clouds in the area. Since then, stratocumulus have developed and
increased in coverage, filling the majority of the sky. A few showers were
observed in the distance this morning offshore, and to our west during the
early afternoon, but unfortunately none have made it to our immediate area.
Following the passage of a cold front yesterday, temperatures have remained
nearer to average today. We began the morning in the low 40s, rising slowly
to the mid 50s. The dew point has remained in the low 40s.
Winds slowed significantly through the overnight and early this morning.
Our average speed for the day so far is only 10mph, though the past several
hours have been below that. The peak gust took place around 9:30am, with a
value of 20mph.
Visibility has improved as the day has progressed, now up to 70 miles. A
smoke plume that was to our ENE this morning is now diminished, thanks
to firefighting efforts that remain ongoing. Another plume appeared to our
south by 10am.
The maximum temperature so far today is 55F, which is equal to
the normal high of 55F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 44F, which is 6 degrees above the normal low of 38F.
