FAIR AUTUMN WEATHER WITH EXCELLENT VISIBILITY
FOLLOWING BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES OVERNIGHT….
Today we observed very few clouds, and a visibility at or
above 80 miles. Wind was light and variable, with a peak
gust barely exceeding 10 mph. Pressure is steadily dropping,
with a 3 millibar decrease between 10 A.M. and 1 P.M.
Conditions are dry, with dew points in the mid 20’s and an
afternoon humidity of 35%.
October rainfall amounted to 6.92 inches, which is 2.23 inches
above the normal total of 4.69 inches.
The high so far today is 48F, 7 degrees below the
daily normal maximum of 55F. The low since midnight
is 31F, 7 degrees below the normal minimum of 38F.
This marks Blue Hill Observatory’s first overnight
freeze, about two weeks later than the average date
of October 20th!
