COLDEST AIR OF THE SEASON SO FAR ARRIVING TODAY AFTER
DAILY RECORD SNOWFALL ON FRIDAY…

The outbreak of Arctic air that has overspread much of the
eastern two thirds of the country has arrived on the East Coast
today. The low temperature dropped to 27F by midnight last night
and to a minimum of 24F just before sunrise today, which is the
coldest reading so far this season. Almost all of the daily
record breaking 3.5 inches of snowfall that fell on Friday
morning melted during the day yesterday, and only a trace
remains on the summit today.  Winds have been light from the
northwest all morning, and the visibility has been excellent
in the 75-80 mile range as much drier air arrives and drops
the dew point into the middle teens.
