GUSTY WINDS RETURN WITH MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES….
Yesterday was certainly a windy one, and after a brief reprieve during
the first half of the morning, the gusty conditions have returned.
Skies began half covered by a mid-level cloud deck off to our south,
with virga visible in the distance. Since then, the mid-level clouds
have departed while cumulus have moved in from the west-northwest.
Temperatures are seasonable, with a low in the upper 20s this morning and
a high so far in the low 40s. Since the winds have picked up from the
west-northwest, heating has been limited due to cold air advection. The dew
point has remained in the teens.
As before mentioned, it is gusty out there! Winds picked up around 8am
this morning after starting out on the quiet side. The past several hours
have seen speeds averaging close to 25mph. Gusts have frequented the 35-45mph
range, even occasionally exceeding 50mph. The peak gust to this point
is 54mph at 10:30am.
Visibility has varied a bit due to virga in various directions, but by early
afternoon views extended up to 80 miles.
The maximum temperature for today is 40F degrees, which is 2 degrees below
the normal high of 42F. The minimum temperature since midnight is 28F
degrees, which is 4 degrees above the normal low of 24F.
