A BIT WINDY, BUT SUNNY AND DRY…

Skies have been mostly clear throughout the day today, save a few
distant stratocumulus and cirrus. Following the active stretch we have
been in for the past several days, a dry and sunny day like today is
always appreciated.

The abundant sunshine has allowed us to climb nicely in regard to
temperature. Beginning in the mid 30s this morning, we have made
it into the low 50s by early afternoon.

Winds have been quite busy up here today! Our average speed to this point
is 18mph, primarily out of the west-northwest. The peak gust of around
45mph took place a bit before 8am.

As the air is dry, visibility has been great today, rising from 60 to
80 miles. That said, standing on the roof to enjoy the view is a below
average experience due to those gusty winds.

The maximum temperature so far today is 52F degrees, which is 3
degrees above the normal high of 49F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 34F degrees, which is 3 degrees above the normal low of
31F.

It should come as no surprise that March has been quite wet!
As of 7am this morning, we have received 9.49″ for the month to date.
This places us at the 6th wettest March on record. See below for the
rankings as compiled by our Chief Scientist, Mike Iacono.

BHO Highest March Precipitation, inches (1886-2024):

1) 18.81 in 2010
2) 13.07 in 2001
3) 10.96 in 1968
4) 10.02 in 1983
5) 9.53 in 1953
6) 9.49 in 2024 (through 3/30)
7) 9.00 in 1984
8) 8.72 in 1993
9) 8.68 in 2018
10) 8.09 in 1956

Despite a February that was quite dry, the combination of a wet January
and March have also placed us within the top 10 for wettest Jan-Mar
periods. With a total of 20.05″ since January 1st as of 7am this morning,
this lands us in 6th place for record wettest January-March.
Below are the rankings, again compiled by our Chief Scientist, Mike Iacono.

BHO Highest Jan-Mar Precipitation, inches (1886-2024):

1) 27.91 in 2010
2) 23.18 in 1956
