RECORD WARMTH YESTERDAY REPLACED BY MORE TYPICAL MARCH CONDITIONS TODAY…

After a taste of early summer yesterday, including a record high
temperature reading of 73F, today we’ve turned the clock back
to the reality of mid March. Overcast skies, dense fog, and periods
of drizzle and light rain have been the theme. Temperatures are a
solid 30 degrees colder as well with a rather raw wind off the ocean.

As mentioned above, the high of 73F set a new record high maximum
for yesterday’s date, beating the old record of 72F set back in 2012.

Periods of drizzle and light rain have amounted to 0.05″ of rain
in the gauge so far. However we’re still running a deficit for the
month of 1.87″, and now for the year as well, at 0.23″ below normal.

Winds have been generally light today with only a peak gust of 17mph
occurring back around midnight. The average speed for the day is
only around 8mph. While the direction has been fluctuating thanks to
a stationary front in the vicinity, it has been mostly out of an
easterly direction.

Visibility has been sitting at only around 1/8th of a mile in dense
fog.

The high so far today is 52F at midnight, which is 7 degrees above
the normal maximum of 45F. The low since midnight is 42F, which is
14 degrees above the normal minimum of 28F.
