MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA
DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
SATURDAY, MARCH 14, 2015
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
RAW, RAINY AND FOGGY TODAY
The first raindrops started to fall shortly before 7:00 A.M. EST here at
Blue Hill this morning, and the rain has continued and intensified during
the day, with 0.22 inches of rain measured through 1PM this afternoon. The
temperature was about a degree above freezing when the rain started, and has
risen slowly throughout the day, so no freezing rain was observed. Shortly
after the rain began, fog moved in as well, dropping the visibility to well
under a mile for most of the day. Winds have turned from SSW to ESE as the
day has gone on, and the barometer has dropped considerably thanks to the low
pressure system brining this unsettled weather.
Seasonal snowfall remains at 143.4 inches, just 1.0 inch below the snowiest
season on record set in 1995-1996. For more information about this historic
winter, visit our web site at bluehill.org.
The average snow depth has fallen to 21 inches as of this morning. This is
the 40th consecutive day with 20 inches or more of snow on the ground which
is firmly in second place all time. The record is 53 days set back in 1948.
