DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
SATURDAY, JUNE 2, 2018
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

WARM AND HUMID TODAY WITH A FEW RAIN SHOWERS AROUND

The humid conditions of yesterday lingered into today, with the dew point
at 70F this morning. A morning wind shift to northeasterly, off the ocean,
has kept the heat and humidity somewhat in check. The temperature has slowly
risen to a high so far of 79F, with the dew point easing back into the
mid 60s. Skies have been mostly cloudy today, with clouds observed at
several levels, including some towering cumulus. A few rain showers have
popped up across the area, and have been visible from the Observatory, with
one shower briefly impacting the summit with just a trace of rainfall after
2PM. Visibility has been a hazy 35-40 miles throughout the day.

May ended drier and warmer than average. The mean temperature for the month
was 61.8F which is 4.7 degrees above monthly normal of 57.1F. The 24-hour
corrected mean temperature of 61.0F ties May 2018 for the third warmest May
on record at Blue Hill. We measured 2.00 ins. of rainfall for the month,
which is 2.11 ins. below the monthly normal of 4.11 ins.
