MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
SATURDAY, JULY 29, 2017
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

COOLER TEMPERATURES, OVERCAST SKIES, AND GUSTY WINDS

Cooler temperatures returned today, as a maximum of only 65F was reached
by the 1:00 P.M. EST observation. Early this morning, the temperature
went down to a minimum of 62F. Yesterday was the first day with above
normal temperatures since last Saturday (7/22), but the average
temperature for the day was just 1F above normal. The mean temperature
at Blue Hill is now very close to normal for the month of July.

Broken stratus and overcast altostratus were in the sky for most of
the day. Dew points stayed in the low 50s. Visibility has improved since
yesterday to 70 miles in most directions, except for 40 miles in the
northeast to south. Clouds increased and visibility worsened slightly
as the morning went on.

Winds were calm yesterday, but they started to pick up around midnight.
Winds shifted from the west yesterday to the northeast today. A peak gust
of 30 MPH was measured at 10:07 A.M. out of the NNE. A nor’easter passing
by in southern New England is causing the higher winds and lower
visibility to our NE-S, but the Boston area is expected to miss most of
the precipitation.
