ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

HAZINESS DUE TO WILDFIRE SMOKE CONTINUES TODAY, SIGNIFICANTLY
RESTRICTING VISIBILITY HERE AT BLUE HILL…
The morning started with dense fog, which limited the visibility
to between 1/8 to 1/2 of a mile for a while. The fog burned off
by mid morning, but the visibility only improved to around 6
miles, and this restriction was due to haze. The haziness is
a direct result of Canadian wildfire smoke returning to the
New England area.
Otherwise mainly sunny skies has been the theme once the fog
burned off. This has allowed temperatures to warm into the
upper 70s and low 80s across the area. However, a sea-breeze
is keeping temperatures on the lower side closer to the coast.
The dew-point remains in the mid 60s, so it does feel rather
sticky out there again today.
The wind has been light once again today, coming from variable
directions this morning before becoming solidly onshore by early
afternoon. The average speed for the day has only been around
5mph. The highest gust so far for the day has only been around
14mph! Definitely not a good kite flying day.
Visibility has been limited due to dense fog early this morning,
then haziness due to smoke thereafter. The view was generally
under 1/2 mile early, improving to only around 10 miles by early
this afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 80F, this is equal to
the normal high of 80F. The minimum since midnight is 61F, which
is 1 degree below the normal low of 62F.
