COLD AND BLUSTERY ON THE SUMMIT THIS MORNING AS
JANUARY COMES TO A CLOSE….
After reaching a high of 32F on Friday, temperatures rapidly decreased
overnight, bottoming out at 8F early this morning. Heavy cloud cover this
morning has helped keep the temperature in the low teens – roughly twenty
degrees below normal. Winds have really picked up out of the northwest,
averaging 26 MPH with gusts as high as 47 MPH and creating blistering wind
chills in the negative teens!
Meanwhile, an additional 1.2 inches of snow fell since 1 P.M. yesterday
bringing the storm total to 2.0 inches. As a result, snow for January is
now up to 42.9 inches, as of 7:00 A.M. this morning, which keeps January
2015 in 8th place for snowiest January.
