BITTER COLD WITH ARCTIC AIR MASS IN PLACE….

The cold temperatures are undoubtedly the main story today. Our minimum this
morning just missed single-digit territory, coming in at 10F just before the 7am
observation. Thereafter, the temperature slowly climbed through the morning
as we were under a cirrostratus overcast. Since around noon, the overcast has
broken, and the resultant sunshine has allowed us to reach the upper teens.

The wind was more active overnight and during the early morning, but has been
steady throughout the day, with an average speed of 13mph to this point. The
peak gust was observed just after midnight, at around 30mph. The winds have been
out of the northwest for much of the day.

Visibility has been improving as the day goes on, beginning at around 40 miles
and improving to 60 miles by late morning.

The maximum temperature so far today is 20F degrees, this is 14
degrees below the normal high of 34F. The minimum temperature
so far since midnight is 10F degrees, this is 8 degrees below
the normal low of 18F.
