SPECTACULAR WINTER DAY WITH MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES AND HIGH VISIBILITY

A cold front passed through the region last night.  Showers and even some
thunderstorms accompanied this passage, with thunder and lightning observed
here last evening.  Precipitation amounts were fairly low, with the showers
and storms only producing 0.16 inches of rain.  The passage of the front also
ushered a very comfortable air mass into the region.  Fog from yesterday and
last night had cleared by 7:00 this morning, leaving mostly clear skies.  Skies
have remained mostly clear throughout the day.  The temperature has risen to a
well above average 50F after a warm morning low of 33F.  This will mark our
third consecutive day of well above average temperatures.  Visibility has been
excellent today, about 80 miles for much of the day.  The wind has increased
during the day today, with gusts this afternoon exceeding 30mph from the SW.
