CHILLY WITH LIGHT RAIN AND DENSE FOG….
Light rain began falling here before sunrise this morning. Luckily, the
temperature surpassed the freezing mark by 2am, meaning we were spared any
freezing rain. The intensity of the rainfall has been rather light, and
we have only picked up 0.18″ by 1pm.
Temperatures reached a low of 31F just after midnight before beginning to
slowly climb. We are now in the low 40s. The dew point lagged behind a bit
until the air became saturated around 8am this morning.
Winds have been steady but light. Flow is out of the south-southwest, with an
average speed of 12mph. The peak gust occurred around 3:45am this morning,
at 21mph.
Visibility started out poor, with low clouds and light rain limiting views
to 8 miles. Since then, the combination of the rain and melting snow has
resulted in dense fog on the summit, reducing visibility to 1/8 mile and
below.
The maximum temperature for today is 41F degrees, which is 4 degrees
above the normal high of 37F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 31F degrees, which is 9 degrees above the normal low of 22F.
