HOT AND HUMID WEATHER CONTINUES, BUT RELIEF EXPECTED TO ARRIVE
OVERNIGHT…
Thanks to some cloud cover that moved through this morning, temperatures
were tempered a bit, but it’s still hot. While surrounding areas did
make it to 90F today, here on the summit we only managed the upper 80s,
as such we have not had an official heat-wave up here this week as we
only had 2 days that made it to 90+F.
Regardless of missing out on an official heat-wave, the humidity levels
have been oppressive for the last 4 days with dew points into the low
to mid 70s. Relief from the oppressive humidity is forecast to arrive
overnight with tomorrow promising to be a much nicer day with dry air
and cooler temperatures (low to mid 80s).
Visibility has been on the lower side thanks to considerable water vapor
in the air. A measly 30 miles is the average for the day.
The wind has once again been mainly on the light side, but not as
non-existent as it was yesterday. A westerly breeze has been averaging
5-10mph most of the day so far, with an occasional gust around 20mph.
The high so far today is 87F, 6 degrees above the daily normal maximum
of 81F. The low so far today is 74F, which is 11 degrees above the daily
normal minimum of 63F.
