Observatory Open for Tours Through Late May/Early June 2021

We are excited to announce that the major Observatory renovation project, which has been in the planning stages for several years, is underway. Extensive work will start in June that will require that we close to the public until some time in 2022. The building will get a much-needed rehab including concrete repair, historically appropriate door and window upgrades, lighting upgrades and more. During the project, we will continue the daily weather observing program. We are grateful to the Mass Department of Conservation and Recreation for working diligently to ensure the preservation of this National Historic Landmark.

In order to prepare we need your help. Most of the Observatory has to be empty during the renovations. Please drop by our gift shop and buy some of our wonderful merchandise including kites, books, educational toys and kits, weather instruments, geology items, and souvenirs including clothing, magnets, mugs and more.

In gratitude for helping us clear out quickly we will give you a 10% discount. Members of BHOSC, Mass Audubon, KONE/AKA and the military get an additional 10% discount. We also have a great selection of used books, some historic weather instruments and used kites for sale. Please support your Observatory by buying merchandise at a discount and helping us clear things out. Tours are available 7 days a week by appointment between 8:30 and 5:30 start time and Walk-Ins Friday through Monday 10 to 4. Call 617-696-0562 or email dmccasland@bluehill.org with any questions.
