New Employment Opportunity

The historic Blue Hill Observatory and Science Center is seeking to fill a weather observer position at our Milton, Massachusetts location. We welcome applicants with an interest in weather and climate, a strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the flexibility to work an occasionally varied schedule. Previous experience with standard meteorological observation practices is preferable, but is not required, since extensive, specific training for the position will be provided.
Successful candidates will have the aptitude to work proficiently with both modern and traditional weather instrumentation to collect weather observations with minimal supervision and will have sufficient computer skills to record, to process, and to communicate this information.  A willingness to interact with public tours or with the local media to support our educational mission is a plus.  This can be a part time (at least three days) or full-time position if you can do educational programs and/or manual labor in addition to observing.
Applicants should submit their resume and at least one letter of recommendation to Charles Orloff, Executive Director, at corloff@bluehill.org. For more information about the position, contact Charles Orloff at 508-776-1879, or Don McCasland, Program Director, at 617-696-0562.
Review of applications will begin as they are received and will continue until the position is filled. We are looking to fill this position by Monday, September 10th, 2018. We always accept and review applications and Observer training is always available to volunteers. Contact Don McCasland for volunteer opportunities as an Observer, tour guide or many other helpful activities.
