ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
HOT AND HUMID TODAY ON THIS FIRST DAY OF ASTRONOMICAL FALL,
COULD REALLY USE SOME RAIN…
The main story of today is the very warm to hot temperatures
and high dew points (especially for this time of year). We
have reached the upper 80s so far this afternoon with a max
through 1pm EST of 88F. Dew points have risen into the upper
60s making it feel rather uncomfortable outside. The only
saving grace has been the breeze which has gusted as high as
26 mph so far.
The other story is the lack of rainfall this month, with
only 0.98″ for the month to date, we are running almost 2
inches below normal for the month. The dry conditions are
starting to show stress on the trees. Those that are showing
color changes already are rather dull looking. Hopefully we
can get a little rain over the next few weeks to help brighten
the colors in time for peak foliage mid to late next month.
Our normal high temperature for today is 69F, thus the 88F
so far today is 19 degrees above normal. Our low since
midnight was 65F, which is 13 degrees above our normal low
of 52F.
