NEAR RECORD WARMTH CONTINUES, BREEZY AND WARM THIS AFTERNOON….

The low temperature for yesterday’s date was 63F degrees,
this set a new record high minimum for the date, beating
the old record of 60F set in 2015.

Moreover, the low of 63F yesterday was also the highest
minimum temperature ever recorded in November.
The previous record was 60F set in both 1996 and 2015.

The high yesterday of 74F set a new record high for the
date, beating the old record of 72F set in 2020.

The low this morning was 64F, which would set a new
record high minimum for the date as well as for the month
if it were to hold through midnight tonight. However it
doesn’t appear it will. We may still set a new record high
minimum if the temperature fails to drop below 58F by
midnight tonight, so stay tuned.

Clouds this morning which were briefly accompanied by a
light rain shower, have since cleared out leaving us with
a brilliant afternoon. Temperatures are responding with
readings once again getting well into the 70s. So far the
high has been 74F, which is 1 degree shy of tying the
record for today.

The dew point was in the low 60s most of the morning, but
is dropping this afternoon behind a cold front that passed
through mid to late morning. Readings have dropped to the
low 50s as of the 1pm observation, heading for the 20s by
tomorrow morning. Definitely a massive change in the air-
mass.

The wind has been busy again today, but not quite as
strong as yesterday. The average speed for the day so
far is around 17mph with a peak gust of 37mph.

Visibility was limited this morning to around 15 miles,
but has improved markedly this afternoon with views of
80 miles!

The high so far today is 74F, which is 21 degrees above
the normal maximum of 53F. The low since midnight is 64F,
which is 28 degrees above the normal low of 36F. These
temperatures are normal for late August!

Interestingly, today marks the fourth consecutive day of
temperatures reaching the 70s. Here are the rankings for
number of consecutive days of 70F and above for the month
of November as provided by our Chief Scientist, Mike Iacono.

BHO Longest November Number of Consecutive Days 70F and Above (1885-2022):

1) 6 on 6-11 November 2020
2) 4 on 5-8 November 1938
4 on 4-7 November 2022
4) 3 on 1-3 November 1927
3 on 18-20 November 1953
3 on 1-3 November 1982
3 on 2-4 November 1990

So while this stretch is unusual (statistically), it’s definitely
not unprecedented.
