WARM AND DRY WITH PLENTY OF SUNSHINE ON THIS MEMORIAL DAY….
What a difference a year makes. For those who don’t recall,
Memorial Day Weekend 2021 was rather miserable as we were
dealing with a late season nor’easter. This storm brought
rain, wind, and ridiculously chilly temperatures. Over
3 inches of rain fell over the course of 4 days between
Friday the 28th and Monday the 31st. The high temperature
on both the Saturday and Sunday of that weekend was 46F,
which set a new record low maximum for Sunday the 30th.
This weekend has been the total opposite of that with dry
conditions, plenty of sunshine, and warm temperatures.
Today has featured abundant sunshine with only a few
decorative clouds around, mainly of the high thin variety.
Temperatures are quite warm today with a westerly breeze
keeping any sea-breeze at bay. Readings this afternoon have
reached the mid to upper 80s.
The dew point has been holding in the mid to upper 50s, as
such the air has been quite pleasant despite the very warm
temperatures.
As mentioned the wind has been westerly with some gustiness
as we moved into the late morning and afternoon. Gusts have
reached between 25-30mph.
Visibility has been limited today to between 40-45 miles
due to haziness. Likely resulting, in part, from the very
high pollen count.
The dry stretch of weather continues with an overall lack of
any appreciable rainfall here at Blue Hill, and quite frankly
across southeastern Massachusetts. Our total for the month is
only 1.06″. This is 2.49″ below normal to date. For the year
to date we’re running a deficit of 4.99″. According to the
latest drought monitor report, much of eastern Massachusetts
is under moderate drought conditions.
The high so far today is 85F, which is 15 degrees above the
normal maximum of 70F. The low since midnight is 57F, which
is 5 degrees above the normal minimum of 52F.
