AFTER A HOT AND HUMID WEEKEND, MUCH APPRECIATED RELIEF TODAY….

Prior to a strong cold front moving through the region
late yesterday, hot temperatures and modest humidity
made for a rather uncomfortable day for many. The high
yesterday made it to 87 degrees with dew points in the
low to mid 60s. Some of the surrounding stations recorded
temperatures of 90 degrees, including Boston’s Logan
International Airport.

The cold front came through late yesterday afternoon with
little fanfare. A wind shift to NNW and a gust to 38 mph
was the main “action” with the front. A brief, but light
rain shower also occurred amounting to only a trace.

The last measurable rainfall occurred 8 days ago (0.01″),
and it shows. The monthly deficit has exceeded an inch,
and the annual total is more than four and a half inches
below normal.

Today’s weather if featuring much nicer conditions with
a mix of sun and clouds, much drier air, and cooler
temperatures.

The high so far today is 68F, which is 1 degree
below the normal high of 69F. The low since midnight
is 52F, which is 2 degrees above the daily normal low
of 50F.
