RAINY AND REMAINING WARM FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY….
Yesterday was anomalously warm, with the low temperature of 44F breaking
the daily record for the highest minimum temperature. The old record was 43F,
set back in 1921 and 1973. 44F is actually the average high temperature this
time of year!
Moving on to today, downpours overnight and early this morning delivered us
with quite a bit of rainfall. The storm total accumulation so far is 2.08″.
Intensity began to let up late morning, with just occasional light rain by
the final observation.
With continued (but lighter) flow out of the south, temperatures have remained
on the warm side today. The high of 58F took place overnight, with a low in the
low 50s by late morning. Since then, the temperature has risen a touch into the
mid 50s.
Winds were quite active ahead of and with the initial batch of downpours overnight.
The peak gust was at 12:12am, with a speed of 60mph. Speeds have slowed noticeably
since 5am, now out of the west. The average speed so far is 16mph.
Thanks to the precipitation and fog, visibility today has been extremely limited.
This morning, views were only 1/4 mile. With a rising cloud base and lighter
precipitation, views now extend 20 miles.
The maximum temperature for today is 58F degrees, which is 14 degrees
above the normal high of 44F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 53F degrees, which is 26 degrees above the normal low of 27F.
