WARM AND HUMID ONCE AGAIN ON BLUE HILL UNDER PARTIAL SUNSHINE…
Today has almost been a carbon copy of yesterday with the day
starting off with stratus and fog, then lifting to reveal a
mix of sun and clouds. As the sun heated the surface, cumulus
grew to become cumulonimbus as thunderstorms developed
to the west through north of the Hill.
Temperatures here at Blue Hill have reached the low 80s early
this afternoon. With the dew point continuing to hover in the
upper 60s to near 70, it still feels quite sticky out there.
However this is creating plenty of fuel for storms to produce
torrential downpours in spots.
The wind has been on the light side, but is trying to increase
a bit this afternoon. The average speed so far for the day is
only around 8mph, but in the last couple of hours, the average
has been closer to 11mph. The peak gust so far, having occurred
just after the 1pm observation, is around 23mph.
Visibility improved from a 1/4 mile early this morning in fog,
to around 20 miles late this morning and this afternoon, limited
by haziness from the high humidity levels.
The maximum temperature so far today is 82F, this is 3 degrees
above the normal high of 79F. The minimum since midnight is 66F,
which is 5 degrees above the normal low of 61F.
