SUNSHINE THROUGH HAZY SKIES FOLLOWING HEAVY RAIN YESTERDAY;
VERY WARM AND HUMID TODAY AT BLUE HILL…
Yesterday’s stormy weather brought a heavy slug of rainfall to
the hill. 2.56″ storm total fell here on the hill, all of it
occurring on the calendar day yesterday. This pushes our monthly
total to over 5 inches, with still 2 weeks left before July is
over.
Sunshine has been the theme today after some early morning fog
burned off. Haziness increased late this morning and this
afternoon as Canadian wildfire smoke makes another visit to the
region today. As a matter of fact, the visibility has dropped
from 30 miles early this morning to only 9 miles at the 1pm
observation, all of this under clear (cloud-wise) skies.
Temperatures have warmed well into the 80s today with continued
high dew points in the upper 60s to low 70s.
The wind has been generally light today after gusty conditions
yesterday. The average speed for today has been around 8mph so
far. The peak gust occurred just after 2am at around 18mph.
The maximum temperature so far today is 86F, this is 4 degrees
above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature today is
71F, this is 7 degrees above the normal low of 64F.
