ANOTHER EXCEPTIONALLY WARM DAY ON GREAT BLUE HILL TODAY….
Today started off warm with plenty of hazy skies and dew points
in the 70’s. Fortunately, the morning brought some cloudy
conditions which kept the temperature from climbing too high.
As of the final observation we are at 90F which is only 4F from
the record high set in 1995.
Dew point values have risen from an already uncomfortable 70F to
a staggering 76F which is downright oppressive for many. The heat
index was at 102F at the 1pm observation so it is very dangerous
for rigorous activity and for the vulnerable population. We hope
that everyone is taking precautions to stay cool and well hydrated!
Winds were abysmally low yesterday, with an average of only 6-7 mph
and fortunately today there has been a slight increase to about
10 mph. Winds have mostly been out of the SW and WSW today,
bringing even more warm air to the area. The peak gust so far
for today occurred just after 11am at around 27 mph.
The maximum temperature so far today is 90F, which is 7 degrees
above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 70F, which is 6 degrees above the normal low of 64F.
