WARMER, BUT STILL PLEASANTLY DRY UNDER A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS….
This morning started off with abundant sunshine, but cumulus
clouds have popped up due to diurnal heating. In addition
cirrus clouds are on the increase this afternoon as well leaving
us with partly sunny skies this afternoon.
Despite the increase in cloud cover, the temperature has warmed
considerably with readings in the mid to upper 80s. The saving
grace for many however is the dew point which is hanging out in
the mid-upper 50s. These values are quite pleasant for this
time of year for sure.
A west-southwest wind has been the theme most of the day,
becoming gusty this afternoon with a peak gust occurring just
before the 1pm observation of 30mph. The average speed for the
day is around 13mph so far.
Visibility has been limited today due to an increase in haziness
when compared to the past few days. We’ve only been able to see
40 miles all day.
We continue our dry stretch with a deficit of almost three
quarters of an inch on the month and over 7.50 inches on the
year. Most of the state continues in a moderate drought save the
Berkshires and Cape Cod. These areas are still rated as
“Abnormally Dry”, according to the drought monitor.
The high so far today is 85F, which is 3 degrees above the
normal maximum of 82F. The low since midnight is 60F, which
is 4 degrees below the normal minimum of 64F.
