ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

MONDAY, JULY 1, 2024
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST)

PARTIAL SUNSHINE THIS MORNING GAVE WAY TO CONVECTIVE CLOUDS
WITH SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING….

We started the day with a mix of sun and clouds, but as the
sun did its job heating the ground, convective clouds blossomed
eventually yielding showers and thunderstorms. All activity here
at Blue Hill started right after the 1pm observation.

Temperatures warmed briefly into the upper 70s, but a freshening
onshore wind along with the increasing cloud cover dropped
readings back into the lower 70s early in the afternoon. They
have dropped even further into the low to mid 60s thanks to the
rainfall.

The wind had been busy most of the day with an average speed of
around 11mph, which gradually veered from the northwest to east.
Gusts to 20-25mph were common this morning into early this
afternoon with a peak gust of 27mph occurring around 6:30am this
morning. The wind has since dropped off to light speeds following
the shower and thunderstorm activity.

Visibility has been excellent outside of any showers and storms.
The view has been generally 70 miles all day, except of course
during the rainfall.

The maximum temperature so far today is 77F, which is 3 degrees
below the normal high of 80F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 63F, which is 1 degree above the normal low of 62F.
