CLOUDY AND COLD WITH A STEADY WIND KEEPING WIND CHILLS LOW….

Skies have been overcast all day as a storm system is passing by to
our south. The snow shield is seen on radar across portions of
Connecticut and southwest Rhode Island, and may attempt to push into
parts of southeast Massachusetts later this afternoon before drier
air aloft takes over. However we do not anticipate any snow here at
Blue Hill.

With the cloud cover and cold air mass in place, temperatures have
been quite slow to rise today, only reaching the low 20s by early
this afternoon after starting in the mid teens. The dew point is
quite low, indicative of the arctic air mass over the region.
Readings have generally been in the upper single digits to low
teens.

Winds are not as gusty as the past few days, but it is still steadily
on the brisk side out of mainly the west-northwest. The average speed
for the day so far is around 12mph. The peak gust so far for the day
is 28mph, which occurred at 1:40am this morning.

Visibility has been excellent today despite the overcast sky. The
views has ranged between 60-80 miles all day.

The maximum temperature for today is 22F degrees, which is 13 degrees
below the normal high of 35F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 15F degrees, which is 5 degrees below the normal low of 20F.
