HEAVY RAIN OVERNIGHT, TRANSITIONED TO ICE THEN SNOW TODAY…
Precipitation started as a brief burst of snow yesterday
afternoon, with which a quick 0.2″ of accumulation occurred.
Thereafter it changed to rain, with periods of rain continuing
into this morning. The rain overnight was moderate to heavy
at times with 0.94″ of liquid being measured at 7am. Light
rain tapered to drizzle early this morning, and it continued
until just after noon before becoming freezing drizzle,
freezing rain, and then sleet. Snow began mixing in just
after the 1pm observation.
Of course with all the precipitation around today, this means
yet another day with no sunshine. Today marks the 5th
consecutive day of overcast skies. The sunshine percentage
for the month through yesterday is a paltry 22% of possible!
This means only 45.8 hours of sunshine has been recorded for
the month so far, ouch!
Temperatures were holding steady at 33F degrees through late
this morning, then started to slowly fall, dropping below
freezing between 11am-noon.
The wind has been mainly north-northeasterly so far today with
an average speed for the day around 15mph. Winds were gusty
this morning with a peak occurring around 4:30am of 36mph.
The high so far today is 34F, which is equal to the normal
maximum of 34F. The low since midnight is 31F, which is 14
degrees above the normal minimum of 17F.
