MORE CLOUDS THAN SUN TODAY, BUT STILL ON THE MILD SIDE FOR
EARLY JANUARY….
The pattern of mild Pacific air continues. Although today
has been a bit cooler than the past few days, it’s still
quite mild for this time of year. The high today made it to
the upper 40s with a low in the low 30s. This is still a
good 10-15F degrees above the 30 year (1991-2020) normal!
Clouds have certainly been more dominant than sunshine
today. Add a stiff breeze to the mix and it has felt chillier
than what the thermometer would otherwise suggest.
The average wind speed has been around 13mph so far for the
day. Frequent gusts over 30mph were occurring from late
morning into early this afternoon. The peak gust so far for
the day is 39mph.
Visibility has been decent starting the day at 40 miles,
increasing to 60 miles by mid morning.
The high so far today is 49F, which is 13 degrees above the
normal maximum of 36F. The low since midnight is 33F, which
is 12 degrees above the normal minimum of 21F.
Here are some interesting annual rankings for 2022 compiled
by our Chief Scientist, Mike Iacono. In essence the year
2022 was warm, dry, and fairly sunny here at Blue Hill!
