BIGGEST WINTER STORM OF THE SEASON SO FAR COMES TO AN END…

The storm system responsible for bringing the biggest snowfall
of the season so far is finally exiting the region. Snow, which
began yesterday morning, came to an end late this morning. The
storm total snowfall was 6.6″ here on the Hill, which melted
down to 0.55″ of liquid equivalent.

The sky is brightening with some splashes of sun poking through
the clouds at times early this afternoon. It’s certainly making
for a picturesque view with the snow covered landscape and
plastered trees.

Temperatures have gradually risen into the low 30s by early this
afternoon, after starting the day in the mid to upper 20s.

Winds were rather light and variable for a time during the mid to
late morning period. However it has settled to a southwesterly
flow and has been increasing over the last hour. The average
speed for the day so far is around 8mph. The peak gust for the
day so far occurred just after 1pm this afternoon, with a speed
of 23mph.

Visibility was quite restricted this morning due to the snow and
fog, with the view generally under 2 miles. However we have seen
marked improvement early this afternoon with the view increasing
to around 30 miles.

The maximum temperature so far today is 34F degrees, which is
equal to the normal high of 34F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 27F degrees, which is 9 degrees above the normal low
of 18F.
