ANOTHER OVERCAST DAY, BUT WINTRY WITH PERIODS OF SNOW….
Finally a day snow lovers have been waiting for. Periods of
mainly light snow have been occurring here on the hill off
and on since yesterday. This morning a good burst of snow
moved through between 7-10am, preceded by a brief period of
sleet. This burst of snow dropped 1.8 inches. Another burst
of snow began just before the 1pm observation. An additional
0.3″ of snow fell between 10am and 1pm bringing the total for
the day through that point to 2.1″. Combined with the snow
that fell yesterday, the storm total through 1pm was 3.2 inches,
by far the biggest snow event of the season so far.
Today marks the 5th consecutive day with no sunshine here
at Blue Hill. The percentage of sunshine we’ve recorded for
month, as it stands through yesterday, is only 24%!
In addition to the snow today, winds were gusty this morning,
however they’ve been on the decline as we move through the
afternoon. The average speed for the day thus far is around
14mph. The peak gust was 36mph back around 1:30 this morning.
The high so far today is 30F, which is 4 degrees below
the normal maximum of 34F. The low since midnight is 26F,
which is 8 degrees above the normal minimum of 18F.
