A MIX OF CLOUDS AND SUN WITH COLDER TEMPERATURES TODAY….
A cold front pushed through last evening with strong cold air
advection taking place behind it. Winds became quite gusty as the
colder air funnelled into the region. While some snow showers and
squalls occurred in areas to our west, none reached the local
area, as such no precipitation was observed with the front.
Today has been dry with sunshine early this morning being
overtaken by cloudiness by early this afternoon. All in all
we’ll call it a mix of clouds and sun.
Temperatures have returned to more January-like levels today.
Readings dropped to the mid 20s early this morning, but have been
somewhat slow to recover, with readings reaching the low to mid
30s by early this afternoon. Dew point values have been holding
in the mid to upper teens through the day.
The wind has been fairly busy today out of the west. The average
speed for the day so far is around 18mph. Gusts are frequently
reaching 20-25mph today adding a decided chill to the air. The
peak gust for the day is 47mph, which occurred just before
12:30am this morning.
Visibility has been excellent today, starting the day around
50 miles, then improving to around 70 miles by the mid morning
hours.
The maximum temperature so far today is 33F degrees, which is
2 degrees below the normal high of 35F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 24F degrees, which is 5 degrees above the
normal low of 19F.
